With A Little Bit Of Lox
Broadway’s bashert Julie Benko reflects on how portraying a surprising number of Jewish leading ladies on the Great White Way – including in Funny Girl, Ragtime, Harmony, and Fiddler on the Roof – turned her into an unexpected representative for Jewish women in the musical theatre community, and in the process, reshaped her own Jewish identity. Backed by her husband, pianist and composer Jason Yeager, Benko weaves personal storytelling with songs from musicals, original music, and selections sung in Yiddish and Hebrew to craft an intimate, soulful, funny, and celebratory evening. With A Little Bit of Lox offers a rich exploration of identity, artistry, and the many beautiful ways there are to be Jewish, both onstage and off.
Euphonic Gumbo
Julie Benko’s Euphonic Gumbo celebrates New Orleans music ranging from early jazz to Cajun and more. Alongside her bandleader and husband Jason Yeager, she sings in English, French, Spanish, and Yiddish to honor the musical legacy of the Crescent City. Now an annual tradition to celebrate Mardi Gras at Birdland and touring year-round.
